| Participants Needed for Field Testing of New Adult Basic Education Assessment |
 |
|
It is widely acknowledged that the fastest growing jobs in the 21st century will require some level of postsecondary education. The purpose of Adult Basic Education (ABE) programs around the country is to assist adult students in obtaining the knowledge and skills necessary for community involvement and successful transition to postsecondary programs, so they may begin careers in high-demand fields.
In response, ACCUPLACER is developing an ABE test in reading, writing and math. This test, developed in collaboration with ABE and Developmental Education instructors and administrators, measure competencies adult learners need to be able to succeed in credit-bearing college courses and in the workplace.
Field testing of the new ACCUPLACER ABE test will take place from January through March 2013. If your institution has an ABE program we encourage you to participate in a field test. Each test (reading, writing, or math) contains up to 45 multiple choice questions and may take up to one hour, including instructions.
The ACCUPLACER program will provide free ACCUPLACER units to the institution for each student who completes one or more field tests. Test administrators, proctors and students who complete at least one of the three ABE tests will also be entered into a raffle.
If you or your colleagues are interested in participating in field testing or have questions, please contact us at accuplacer@collegeboard.org.
